Request a ConsultationUncontested divorce representation starts at $2,500 and will not exceed $4,500. The quoted fee is set at the engagement conference based on the matter's specifics and does not change for the duration of representation. Court filing fees are passed through at cost.
Fee includes drafting and filing the summons and complaint, preparing and negotiating the settlement agreement, preparing all judgment papers, and submitting the uncontested packet to the court. One attorney conference and standard revisions included.
Summons and verified complaint. Settlement agreement drafted to reflect your specific terms on equitable distribution, maintenance, and any ancillary issues.
RJI, note of issue, affidavits of plaintiff and defendant, financial disclosure forms, and the full uncontested packet filed with the Supreme Court in your county.
Judgment of divorce, findings of fact, and conclusions of law submitted to the court. Entry of judgment confirmed and transmitted to both parties.
An uncontested divorce is appropriate where both spouses have reached, or are prepared to reach, agreement on grounds, equitable distribution of marital property, maintenance (if any), custody and parenting time (where children are involved), and child support (which must still comply with the Child Support Standards Act). If any of these issues remain disputed, representation shifts to contested matrimonial work and is quoted separately. The firm handles contested matrimonial litigation across the same counties under its standard hourly rate.

Fabrice K. Michel is the managing attorney of Michel Law Group PLLC. Admitted to practice in New York, the Eastern District of New York, and the Southern District of New York.
Timing is driven by the county, the completeness of the settlement agreement, and the court's calendar. In Nassau and Suffolk the uncontested packet is typically signed within four to six months of filing. Queens, Kings, and Bronx trend longer; Westchester trends shorter.
No. The flat fee covers representation of one spouse. The firm does not represent both parties to a divorce because doing so would be a conflict. The non-represented spouse must either consent to proceeding without counsel or retain separate counsel.
If a previously agreed term becomes disputed, representation converts to contested matrimonial work on the firm's standard hourly schedule. The flat fee paid is credited against the hourly balance.
