These terms describe the Michel Law text message program. They apply if you have opted in to receive text messages from Michel Law by checking the Text message box on our Contact Preferences page, or by asking us in person or by phone during a consultation or intake.
The text-message program is operated by Michel Law Group PLLC, a New York professional limited liability company doing business as Michel Law, located at 277 Northern Blvd, Suite 100, Great Neck, NY 11021.
Michel Law sends transactional and informational text messages related to your legal matter. Message types include:
This is not a marketing program. Michel Law does not send promotional or advertising messages by text.
Text-message opt-in is entirely voluntary. It is not a condition of becoming a client, retaining the firm, or receiving any legal service. Clients who do not opt in are served by phone, email, and mail without any change in service.
Message frequency depends on the activity of your matter. Typical range is one to ten messages per month. Frequency may exceed this range during active litigation, trial preparation, or immediately before scheduled court dates or filing deadlines.
Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply. Michel Law does not charge for text messages. Contact your carrier for details about your plan.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Michel Law is not liable for messages that fail to deliver due to carrier issues, network outages, or device problems.
You represent that you are 18 years of age or older when you opt in to receive text messages from Michel Law.
You may stop receiving text messages at any time by any of the following methods:
Reply HELP to any message for assistance. Opting out does not change your service. Michel Law will continue to reach you by phone, email, and mail as before.
Text messages are not encrypted end-to-end and are less secure than encrypted email or the client portal. Do not send confidential information about your matter by text. Use email, the client portal, or in-person communication for anything sensitive. Michel Law will not initiate discussion of confidential matter details by text.
Michel Law records each text-message opt-in with the following data:
Records are retained for four years after opt-out or matter close, whichever is later.
Michel Law does not sell or share your mobile information or opt-in consent with third parties for their marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how Michel Law handles personal information.
Michel Law may update these terms from time to time. The current version is effective as of the date shown at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated by text to opted-in users at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
